About MNOutdoors.org Treasure Hunt
Welcome to the first MNOutdoors.org Minnesota Treasure Hunt
homepage! This is an actual treasure hunt for REAL GOLD.
Up for grabs is one (1) 1/10 oz. American Eagle bullion coin worth an
estimated $75.00 USD. Unlike typical treasure hunts, there will not be a
map or a buried chest to find. Instead, you must use your wits, along
with regularly published and findable clues, to decipher the codes and
ultimately win the game. OK, so I know 75 bux is not a lot of prize
money, but think of the bragging rights you'll have knowing you outsmarted a
team of talented ciphers, and earned through pure intellectual talent; the
ultimate proof.
The Details: On this site you will find a
cipher code by following the link on the Treasure menu on the left. Crack
this code, and email the results to treasurehunt@mnoutdoors.org,
who will then email you the next code in the series. Be the first to
complete all four (4) codes, and you will win the coin pictured above.
Bear in mind that each code will be different than the others, and will most
definitely increase in complexity. You can download a PDF version of "The
Code" by clicking here.
The Details Updated:
Due to some technology issues with code 3 and 4, the
staff here at MNOutdoors.org has decided to end the quest at two (2)
puzzles. This means that we do have a winner of the gold coin. You
can find the announcement of the winner in the forum section of this website.
The Clues: At regular intervals, or whenever
we feel like it, a clue to the codes will be posted on this website. One
of the many avenues for obtaining these clues will be through
Geocaching. Geocaching is a wildly addicting sport that gets you
using your GPS to find hidden "treasures". Clues to the codes will be
placed in Geocaches and linked to this site.
The Forums: MNOutdoors.org has created some
treasure hunting forums where you can discuss the hunt, clues, and ideas.
Please feel free to use this forum however you see fit, so long as you don't
give away the answers to a clue, or provide detailed decoding
information. Hints are OK, but spoilers will be immediately removed by
our administration staff!
